BLOXcon London - Roblox

So last weekend the 2nd BLOXcon of the year was held in London, England! The sell-out event, which received positive reviews, was packed with events such as the hackatheron, paper plane contest to win R$10 000, Q&A area, meet the staff and stalls as well as the main attraction, the presentation, announcing what to expect from Roblox soon! Profile Views gone from Roblox!

I posted about this the other week, and I have found a forum started by Chief Justus with information on why Roblox scrapped profile views, something I felt was wrong. Here is what he had to say:

"As you may have noticed, the profile view statistic is no longer available. This is an intentional change.

Profile views updated in real time. But with more than 10 million unique visitors and almost 2 billion (yes, billion) page views each month on ROBLOX.com – not to mention the very frequent abuse of profile views through F5ing -- the database demands of this feature grew to far outweigh any possible benefit it might offer. In fact, we believe that profile views – like other quantity-not-quality metrics that are easily cheated – don’t really provide any real value as a measure of, well, anything. We would much rather see other measures of quality and value and will be adding such features in the coming months.

Nevertheless, it is possible – and no promises here – that we might consider re-implementing the feature at some point in the future. If that were to be done, it is likely that profile views would only be viewable to the profile owner and that they would be updated not in real time but on a regular but less frequent basis – say, weekly.

We’d like to hear what you have to say. Should profile views return, even in the format described above? What other metrics – more valuable, less cheat-prone – would you like to see provided? The floor is yours."

Percy Jackson Sea of Monsters on Roblox!

If you don't already know, Roblox has teamed up with the new movie, Percy Jackson Sea of Monsters. Two hats, a golden fleece (from the film), a special version of the popular game created by Shedletsky "Sword fights on the heights" (SFOTH) and a whole page are dedicated to the film. In this post I will show you how to win the fleece and show you all of the items released to celebrate the film which is released August 7th!

The two hats released don't look that amazing to be honest, the Despicable me 2 items were a lot better, however they only cost 1 ticket. To buy them click the catalog and search for them there.

You can also get this billboard for your own games for free!

To find the Percy Jackson Roblox page click on more at the top bar and click on the icon saying Percy Jackson Sea of Monsters as shown below.

 

That Will take you to the page below showing the trailer for the film, links to the items and SFOTH game along with information about the film.

 

In the next part of this blog I will show you how to get all of the swords to unlock the secret golden fleece, so if you want to work it out for yourself, don't read this next part.

When you join the game this notice will appear:

Basically, to win the fleece and earn a badge you have to find the 4 swords without dying, but if you die you have to start again. You can get killed by other players or kill them first on your quest. If you are familiar with SFOTH IV then this will be easy as the swords are hidden in the same places as that game. Each sword is hidden in two places, I will show you one of their places.

 

One sword is hidden here, along the disappearing panels and spinning poles.

 

Another is hidden next to the main arena and floating panels.

 

One is at the top of the escalators, between the columns where the Illumina is hidden on the original.

 

The axe sword is at the end of the high, thin paths at the far end of the map.

 

And the last is inside the mountain where the Darkheart is often hidden...

Once you have successfully gathered all of these swords, this notice will come up confirming that you have unlocked the Golden Fleece, badge and have the ability to fly!

So now you can fly and easily kill your enemies to stop them winning the fleece, but don't die or else you will loose that too! Have fun completing this task and I hoped I helped.

"Percy Jackson, the son of Poseidon, continues his epic journey to fulfill his destiny, as he teams with his demigod friends to retrieve the Golden Fleece, which has the power to save their home and training ground, Camp Half-Blood. They embark on a dangerous journey into the Sea of Monsters (known to humans as the Bermuda Triangle) to search for the Golden Fleece."

New Roblox mouse/courser on games

It seems ROBLOX want to update everything that is old to make it new, even if it doesn't even need updating e.g games page, blue panel at the bottom of the screen, profile views etc. Well this is another one of those updates that most people wont like (including myself) and has no real purpose. Since Roblox was made they have never changed the good old courser, a massive arrow. Now if you play a game, there is just a tiny pathetic little arrow that turns black when you use an item.

Why!?! What a stupid update, people don't like change when there is nothing that needs changing!
Hopefully there will be information on why this update happened soon, and when there is I will be sharing it with you on this blog!

Roblox blue panel update on website.

If you're familiar to Roblox this new update will stand out a mile away on the picture above. The panel at the bottom of the screen is now blue when it was white. It reminds me of the blue you see all over Club Penguin, so it was a surprise to see it on Roblox. This update doesn't really bother me but the colour matches the top panel so I see why they did it.

We've got four ROBLOX interns working for us currently--we wanted to give them the chance to get creative and publish their own unique gear creations! There's a little bit of everything this week, from a gun that launches walruses to a hoverboard--read on to see what's new.

Newtrat's Tuskinator: This bizarre weapon shoots bullets that turn into body-hugging walruses on impact. These walruses mean you no harm--to the contrary! Each walrus attached will refill five hit points of damage, and will make bizarre walrus noises, in addition to spouting off several bad jokes. Did we mention in the intro that we're debuting some weird gear this week? Yeah.
Seranok's Golden Chalice of Fame: Seranok saw this as an opportunity to show ROBLOXians what it's like to be famous. Equip this and click once, and watch as a herd of NPCs appear and begin following you around asking for donations and other favors.
Merely's Sparkle Time Hoverboard: This hoverboard allows you to float two studs above the ground. Use the normal walking keys to manoeuvre, and hit the spacebar for a speed boost that will rocket you forward as sparkles shoot out of the board. There's also a boost GUI meter, so you can monitor your boost levels.
stickmasterluke's Stick of Power: Pretty capable for just a stick! The Stick of Power actually has six different special attacks, and each of these specials can be toggled using the Q and E keys. Each special does something different, and we don't want to spoil the surprise, so we'll tell you about just one: it puts you in an invisible elevator, which you can ride as high you like to get to hard-to-reach places.

BLOXcon Chicago - Roblox

The first of three BLOXcons took place at the weekend and was a great success!
Roblox released this video to show everybody what happened!

Also, two virtual hats were given out to people that ordered tickets to the event and people that ordered them early!

Ex Builders club members can run 5 active places!

Anyone who has had BC can now keep 5 place slots for active games in the new update. here's what Chiefjustus had to say!

"The update providing five active place slots for ex-BC members is now live. It took a bit longer than we anticipated... but we wanted to make sure we got it right. Thanks for being patient. The update applies to anyone who has ever had Builder's Club. Suggestion: why not use one of your slots to try out the new Paid Access feature? Enjoy!"

Finally a good Roblox update!It will encourage people to buy BC so Roblox are happy, and the builders are happy because they can run and build more places!

Paid access on Roblox games.

As announced a couple of weeks ago, the paid access feature has finished beta testing and has been launched on the site, despite negative feedback from users including myself. You can see what the layout is on the few games that have already added the feature in the picture above (circled).

A new catagory of game search "purchased" has been added, listing the games you have bought a paid access for. Once you have bought the paid access, you can carry on visiting the game for free afterwards, and they vary in price. People are against this feature because some kids who have no Robux will buy some with real money, which gets rid of the concept of Roblox being a "free online game". Some builders like the idea because their already popular games will earn tons more Robux. But some think they will earn more not adding the feature because they will earn more tickets witch they can convert to robux, because less people can afford to buy paid access!

You can see if a game has paid access before clicking on it because it has a green number under it with the price, shown highlighted below and compared with a game without.

 

There has already been problems with the update, with the creator of "trade hangout", Merely giving refunds to all Robloxians who purchased an access as there was a glitch with it.

As it stands, only a small number of games have updated to a paid access, and hopefully it will stay that way. Comment below what your thoughts are with the update and remember to check back on this site for more Roblox news, Reviews and cheats!

ROBLOX games page massive layout update! *New look 2013*

So as announced last week on the Roblox blog, Roblox have updated their games page! They have completely re-designed it as you can tell from the picture below.

This has made it a bit more confusing as I am not used to it, but over time it will just become natural. You can see the BC (builders club) only games are placed between two adverts, which makes it a bit hidden. At the top are the filter options and under that are the "Relevant" game sort. Next is the "Top Earning" sort, a sort only created three weeks ago.
Weirdly, the new page layout is not showing on my account, but is for my sister's account (Duckgirl63). I am still seeing the old version!

These look great! I can't wait to see pictures of the individual cards, and to of course buy some myself. Roblox mega spam

We all know spamming is a big problem on Roblox catalog items commentary, and a massive spam has taken place recently on almost every item and place on Roblox. Here's what it says, you will probably recognise it.

"ROBLOX is celebrating their 7th year anniversary by giving everyone 100,000 ROBUX! Just do a quick survey, this offer ends tonight! robloxpromotion.mygamesonline.org"

This is a load of nonsense, they would never give everyone 100 000 Robux! They need money from people buying Robux, they're not just gunna give everyone free Robux! And don't click on the link, who knows what it will lead you to!

Roblox Profile views update

Yet another horrible Roblox update happened within the last few hours, you can now no longer see peoples profile views. I have'nt got a clue why they would get rid of this feature, there was nothing wrong with it and it was actually quite useful.





Instead, you can now see how many friend invites you have, which is useless because you can just see that in your inbox!


Why people want to see profile views:

• To see if the person is famous
• To see how popular they are
• To find who has the most views (Roblox had over 5 billion!)

Telamon's Other Chicken Suit!

After 3 years, a sequel to Telamon's Chicken suit (shown below) has been released!

Both have the same description, and it is not yet known whether this new suit will become limited like the first one.

The lol day hat, created last year, was added to the homepage yesterday because the date was 7.07. If you turn those numbers upside down you will find it says "lol". Why it says new, I'm not quite sure, however it has gained over 50 000 sales since it has been advertised on the featured catalog items page.
